SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN

 

Description

HARLEM WEEK, Inc.* is looking to hire an intern with strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape, including various social media websites, blogsites, etc. HARLEM WEEK, Inc. is currently redesigning our website, and will soon launch a social media campaign. The intern hired for this position will need strong critical thinking skills in order to integrate into our vibrant and passionate team who are very excited to share this exciting launch with an intern hoping to gain a ton of great online experience. The person(s) selected for this position will be required to work  3 – 4  days per week for the months of July & August.

Responsibilities

§  Contribute to website redesign project in various ways

§  Monitor and post on blogs, forums, and social networks

§  Online outreach and promotion using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube       and more

§  Website and social media optimization

§  Keyword analysis

§  Cost/benefit analysis

Requirements

Students applying for this internship should at least be a sophomore in college and have a solid understanding of the Web and youth markets.

Special Bonus:  HARLEM WEEK, Inc. will select two or three highly qualified interns who will receive, in addition to the summer internship professional services fee, separate scholarship assistance for the upcoming school year.  Also, if the student is located in the New York area during the school year, there will also be opportunities for part time work assignments while in school.  

*HARLEM WEEK, Inc., a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, fosters the continued growth and development of Harlem, one of the world’s best-known neighborhoods, by highlighting Harlem’s assets and unique flavor. HARLEM WEEK, now in its 38th year, celebrates and promotes Harlem’s rich Hispanic, Caribbean, European, African, African-American and American history, culture, arts, religion, entertainment, and sports.  The over 100 HARLEM WEEK events attract approximately 2 million attendees from all over New York and the world. 

 

HARLEM WEEK events, which run from the end of July to August, include outdoor and indoor music concerts; presentations of college scholarships; high school and college summer internships; auto shows; film festivals; health, business, and education conferences and expositions; sporting events; adult and children’s fashion shows, youth programs and activities; adult job and career fairs, and expos.

 

In sum, HARLEM WEEK promotes, fosters, and celebrates what Harlem was, is, and will be. Through its events and programming, HARLEM WEEK brings together multiple generations, highlights old and new businesses and community organizations, and most importantly, captures Harlem’s evolution, diversity, and essence. HARLEM WEEK is simply Harlem.
